Alarm help

If an alarm did not sound as expected

  1. Open Phoenix Rise and confirm that the alarm is enabled for the correct time and days.
  2. Make sure your iPhone is powered on and that Phoenix Rise has permission to schedule alarms.
  3. Open and save the alarm again after an iOS update or if you recently changed app permissions.
  4. Keep Phoenix Rise updated through the App Store.

No software alarm is infallible. Use a separate backup when waking on time is critical for medication, caregiving, travel, work, or another important commitment.

If your personal audio is unavailable

Open the alarm, select the saved audio again, and save it. Phoenix keeps a private copy after import, so moving or deleting the original file does not normally remove it from Phoenix. If the saved copy is missing or will not play, delete it from My Media and import it again.

Wake Task help

A Wake Task is optional. When one is enabled, it begins while the alarm is sounding.

  • Do the Math: answer a few quick sums.
  • Step Into Your Day — Coming Soon. This Wake Task is not available in version 1.0.
  • Light the Path: watch and repeat a short light sequence.
  • Breathe Into Morning: complete three paced breaths and follow the light.

If a task cannot continue, use the emergency exit shown on the task screen. Hold it for three seconds to leave the task.

Personal Video

In an alarm's My Media tab, choose Video, then select a video from the iPhone Files picker. Phoenix currently accepts MP4, M4V, and MOV files up to 250 MB. It saves a private copy on your iPhone, uses the video's audio for the alarm, and keeps the video available in My Media afterward.

Select the saved item and save the alarm to assign it. You can preview it before using it. To replace it, choose another video. To remove it, use the delete control beside the item in My Media; this removes Phoenix's saved copy and leaves the original file alone. Deleting the original after import does not remove Phoenix's saved copy.

Phoenix does not provide cloud sync or recovery for Personal Video. Reinstalling the app or moving to a new iPhone can remove locally stored media unless a device backup restores it. If a file will not select, make sure it is downloaded and available in Files, uses a supported format, and is under the size limit. If preview or alarm use fails, choose the item again and save the alarm again.

Say it out loud

“Say it out loud” is an optional way to enter a gratitude response in Ember. Tap the microphone, speak in English, and Phoenix places the recognized words in the response field for you to review before sending. It is not a Wake Task.

Phoenix asks for microphone and Speech Recognition access when you start voice input. The current release requests on-device recognition, does not persist an audio recording, and does not send spoken audio or recognized words to Phoenix services. To enable or revoke either permission, open iOS Settings > Phoenix Rise.

If access is denied, your device does not support on-device dictation, or recognition fails, you can try again, type your response, or choose a starter suggestion. Voice input currently starts in English (United States); on-device speech availability depends on your iPhone and iOS configuration.
